Jody Bolz has served as an executive editor of Poet Lore since 2002. She received her BA and MFA degrees from Cornell University, where she studied with A.R. Ammons. After graduate school, she worked as a magazine editor for two major environmental organizations (The Wilderness Society and The Nature Conservancy) and taught creative writing for more than 20 years at George Washington University.
She is the author, most recently, of the novella-in-verse Shadow Play (Turning Point Books) and A Lesson in Narrative Time (Gihon Books). Her poems have appeared widely in such journals as The American Scholar, Indiana Review, North American Review, Ploughshares, Poetry East, Prairie Schooner, and Southern Poetry Review–and in many anthologies. Her honors include a Rona Jaffe Foundation Writer’s Award and a Maryland State Arts Council individual artist’s grant.
